Responsibilities
The Warehouse and Inventory Manager at Mainspring will lead all warehouse operations, manage products and components availability, maintain inventory accuracy, and implement inventory optimization and cost-effective strategies in multiple manufacturing locations. In this role, you will develop and implement materials strategies, plan target materials levels to meet customer service levels and working capital objectives, handle daily inventory control, including analyzing and handling adjustments for cycle counts, lead monthly inventory counts and adjustments, mitigate and drive dispositions for excess and obsolete materials, and improve overall production material flow. You will also develop policies and procedures to ensure proper oversight with Mainspring’s own factory as well as external contract manufacturing partners and vendors. In addition, you will protect Mainspring's assets and evaluate potential risks using financial and other reporting analytics, and collaborate with other departments, including Supply Chain, Sourcing, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Support Teams to achieve company objectives.
  • Own global inventory for Mainspring and drive continuous improvement of inventory accuracy
  • Support and implement materials planning strategies to align finished goods availability and working capital objectives with monthly SI & OP expectations
  • Collaborate with the Planning Team to review weekly production plans and communicate with other departments
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of data for supply chain planning and inventory targets
  • Analyze and update MRP rules to ensure the availability of the right products at the right locations at the right time
  • Coordinate and manage daily adjustments with Material Buyers/Planners, Cycle Counters, and Finance to maintain inventory accuracy
  • Collaborate with Quality, Sales, Finance, and Warehouse to resolve receiving issues, material rejections, and vendor return problems
  • Assign and maintain part numbers, inventory locations, BOMs, routings, and planning data in the ERP system
  • Develop policies and processes to minimize slow-moving, excess, and obsolete materials, including limiting purchases and disposing of existing excess and obsolete materials
  • Lead and report on daily KPI and metrics updates to managers and stakeholders to meet key deliverables, including At Risk items, Stock-outs, Past Due PO's, Days Inventory On Hand, and Inventory Value through daily/weekly management
  • Manage the E&O process including inventory variance, RCCA with Supply Chain while proactively identifying areas of risk and opportunities
  • Summarize statistical data to determine usage trends/volumes and establish kanban levels/reorder points to prevent line downtimes
  • Recommend or implement process improvements that lead to cost reduction, supply chain improvement, and/or inventory turns
  • Drive periodic cycle count process and have a plan to eliminate the annual physical inventory
  • Provide training and expertise in standard ERP materials management processes to other team members
  • Develop and establish standards and practices for inventory optimization. This would include dock policies, lead-time off-sets, replenishment optimization and pull-in/push-out messaging
  • Ensure that the warehouse operates at peak efficiency - with customer satisfaction being the primary goal - by leading, managing, organizing, developing and training warehouse staff
  • Develop warehouse operating systems by determining product handling and storage requirements, equipment utilization, inventory, gate processes and shipping methods
  • Train and manage the warehouse team to solve day to day operational issues and reach short and long-term performance goals
  • Oversee daily operations while controlling and managing inventory and logistics
  • Review and prepare workflows, staffing requirement, space allocations, equipment layouts and actions plans that meet company standards for productivity, quality and customer service
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environments by establishing and enforcing standards and by complying with legal regulations
  • Manage daily warehouse activities, including quality assurance, inventory control, space management, logistics, floor productivity, shipping and customer service
  • Schedule and oversee warehouse team, and manage the flow and quality of work to maximize efficiency and minimize overtime
  • Meet regularly with warehouse leaders to analyze productivity and develop actionable plans for loss prevention
  • Oversee and manage logistics for transporting products to and from company facilities. Support and engage with the logistics manager to ensure efficient delivery of packages to customers
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Business Administration, Supply Chain, Finance, Economics, or Engineering with 5 years of relevant experience in operations or inventory management is preferred
  • Experience leading and/or supervising warehouse operations with clear evidence of producing results including retention and development of personnel
  • Previous inventory control experience and knowledge of warehouse operations and procedures
  • Proven experience with Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) software such as SAP
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with databases, query/reporting tools, ability to manipulate large data sets, analyze data, and create reports. Experience with Rapid Response and/or similar planning tools is a plus
  • High level of organization with an attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines
  • Creative problem-solving abilities, ability to collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, knowledge of continuous improvement processes
  • Strong team orientation, servant leadership qualities, highly collaborative and a cross-functional attitude
  • Ability to create, present summary reports and provide recommendations/direction.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to interact professionally with contract manufacturers, vendors, and service providers
This position is on-site in Menlo Park, CA. The salary will be adjusted based on the experience of the employee.
