Job Description

Position: Oxbow Bar & Grill Bartender

Location: Fort Myers, FL

Reports to: Oxbow Bar & Grill General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Supervisor

Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Job Summary:

Oxbow Bar & Grill Bartender will be responsible for ensuring exceptional service to all guests that are consistent and continually in accordance with the Luminary Hotel & Co. service standards and standards of Mainsail Lodging & Development. Oxbow Bar & Grill Bartenders will also be responsible for making alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages by the recipe and delivering high-quality food and drinks in a clean and friendly environment.

Essential Functions

  • General knowledge of cocktail crafting and mixology fundamentals
  • Curate guests’ bar experience by making recommendations
  • Knowledge of all beverages to include liquors, wines, and beers
  • Serve guests in an efficient courteous manner following the proper steps of service
  • Knowledge of proper cocktail making, as trained by Oxbow Bar & Grill
  • Have necessary tools to run the shift such as pen, corkscrew, bar tools, etc.
  • Ability to pair wines with meals
  • Understanding that the bar serves a full food & drink menu and must be prepared to serve full coursed and/or shared meals to guests
  • Light food running when applicable, ability to carry plates that may be warm or hot
  • Knowledge of all menu items to include prep time, preparations, sauces, allergies, and accompaniments
  • Collect and process payment for food and beverages served
  • Follow standard TIPS practices to ensure safe and responsible serving of alcohol
  • Be aware of any specials, soups, drinks, and any items that are running low
  • Ability to handle station, or when situations arise, the ability to let manager/supervisor know ahead of time of any issues that may affect the guest experience
  • Follow appropriate cash handling procedures as established by Accounting, and must be able to explain shortages and overages
  • Maintain a clean and orderly bar area
  • Clean glasses, utensils, coolers, and bar equipment
  • Perform other duties as management requests to service our guests.

Qualification Standards

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or higher
  • Previous hospitality experience required
  • Minimum 2-year bartending experience in high volume bar or restaurant preferable in the Southwest, Florida area
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to use technology e.g. tablets, iPads

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift 20 pounds or more
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Corrected vision to normal range
  • Ability to work long hours as needed

NOTICE: The hotel business functions seven days a week, 24 hours a day. All employees must realize this fact and be always aware that it may be necessary to move associates from their accustomed shift as business demands. In addition, this is a hospitality business, and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times.
