About The Opportunity

Compensation: competitive base salary plus bonus structure, ESOP contributions, 401(k) match.

Location: Auburn, NH

We are searching for an experienced and customer service driven Fleet Manager who will be responsible for the overall management and operation of the fleet of vehicles. They will ensure that the fleet is maintained, optimized for efficiency, and complies with safety and regulatory standards. The Fleet Manager plays a critical role in managing costs, improving operational performance, and supporting the company's objectives. They will be pro-active in managing the department’s ability to solve scheduling conflicts and priorities for the maintenance staff and will manage costs associated with repairs. Additionally, they will oversee the Mobilization Supervisors and audit efficiency, utilization, and identify areas for improvement within our mobilization of assets inside the organization. They will utilize their mechanical and leadership expertise to hit the ground running to provide direct and ongoing support to the team!

What you will be doing:

Enforcing safety practices and procedures and ensuring employees receive appropriate safety training; networking with customers on the status of equipment; being responsible for ensuring the efficient planning of maintenance and repair of fleet vehicles and related equipment assigned to departments and divisions; ensuring all fleet operations are working to maximize equipment availability, utilization and performance through the creation and adherence to maintenance standards and protocols; monitoring and providing feedback on fuel consumption, with suggestions on strategies and solutions to reduce fuel cost; managing the implementation of a preventative maintenance program and monitors to assure cost effectiveness and ensures the scheduling of routine and emergency maintenance is completed as required; managing the Fleet Maintenance team to ensures a basic inventory for parts, supplies, etc. is maintained; managing the fleet to ensure the registration and inspection requirements for all over the road vehicles and equipment are met; ensuring there is a partnership with our Safety Department and Fleet to ensure necessary permits and licenses are obtained for all over the road mobilization and distribution vehicles and equipment; state highway explosive permits, IFTA, etc.; monitoring and partnering with safety/compliance/operations to ensure FMCSA and DOT compliance is inspected and achieved; monitoring and performing analysis on vehicle utilization and evaluation of assets; supervising Fleet Maintenance employees; training, evaluating and disciplining employees; assisting in the development of the Fleet budget to include a review of past year expenses, including fleet capital budget, including parts, tools, and office supplies; managing and drive the procurement process for new vehicles and necessary fleet equipment; negotiating with suppliers to secure favorable relationships, terms, and pricing; coordinating sale of fleet assets aligned with Fleet disposal plan, and ensuring all applicable regulations and procedures are followed in execution of sale; evaluating and providing recommendations for technical specifications of equipment upgrades and replacements; ensuring reports are inspected for accuracy on each vehicle and piece of equipment repaired; completing necessary monthly reporting to management on maintenance on vehicles and equipment repaired and ensures compliance with State and Federal inspections; managing and participates in the upkeep of maintenance and repair records; ensuring preventive maintenance is performed on all selected departmental vehicles; and ensuring all necessary inventory for spare and repair parts is up to date.

Supervisory responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and ultimate supervision for all personnel within the assigned Fleet Department.

Work environment:

  • Standard work week, although generally Monday through Friday, may require extended days and hours of work, including weekends and evenings, based on the high level of this position and company deadlines that need to be met.

Physical demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit and walk. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crawl.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts or in outside weather conditions. The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately noisy.
  • Work on uneven and loose surfaces.

Travel:

  • Periodic travel to various regional and off-site meetings throughout the Company’s geographic footprint.

About You

You are an experienced and customer service driven fleet manager with 2-4 years of supervisory experience and preferably hold an Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in logistics, business, automotive technology or other relevant field. You are highly knowledgeable in planning, organizing and directing the repair and maintenance of vehicles and fleet equipment, including the techniques and procedures involved in maintenance and repairs replacement, as well as mechanical safety practices; diesel and gas engine mechanics, parts, supplies, and pump operations. Familiarity with Fleet Management Information Systems is highly preferred! You thrive in a leadership role and will use your technical expertise to organize, coordinate, and supervise all fleet maintenance activities and programs while prioritizing safety at all times.
