Title: Electrician III
Bargaining Unit/Salary Level: MSEA Support Services Range 22
Responsibilities: Electrician III performs skilled electrical tasks as a Master Electrician involving the installation, maintenance, alteration and repair of a variety of electrical systems and equipment at a college. This position also monitors and maintains HVAC systems and equipment. Assignments are received orally, or in writing and may be accompanied by penciled sketches, diagrams and blueprints. This position is responsible for Campus wide oversight and responsibility for all Electrical and HVAC activities and projects.
Minimum Qualifications: Associates Degree in Electronics Technology required. Must have valid Master Electrician License as issued by the Maine Electrician’s examining board. Minimum of six years’ experience as a Master’s Electrician. Experience in installation and/or repairs of electrical and HVAC equipment. Valid State of Maine Class C Driver’s License. Class B preferred.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must have knowledge of the standard methods and practices of the electrical and HVAC trade, and knowledge of hand and power tools, materials and equipment used in the trade. Knowledge of methods, theories, and principles of electricity and electrical systems and of federal, state, and local electrical codes and ordinances as wells as the occupational hazards intrinsic to the electrical trade, including knowledge of precautions and safeguards required and safe work practices are essential in performing the duties of the position. Must have the ability to understand and explain technical sketches, diagram blueprints, to detect and overcome defects and malfunctions in electrical and HVAC systems, equipment, and appliances, to plan and lay out electrical and HVAC work for others. Skills in the proper use of testing equipment.
