Maine Behavioral Healthcare is Hiring a Clinical Psychologist - Weight & Wellness Program Near South Portland, ME

Maine state licensure to practice as a PhD or PsyD required

This is a great opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist to be integrated into an expanding Weight & Wellness program in South Portland, Maine. The Clinical Psychologist will be part of the multidisciplinary team including Dietitians, Surgeons, Medical Assistants, and Behavioral Health Clinicians. This team works collaboratively to treat individuals who are in their journey to create a healthier self.

This is a 40-hour, benefit eligible position for a licensed Clinical Psychologist who has a specialty in Pediatrics. Some adult work may be included. The role is new and will be defined as we learn together. Key components of the work will be to screen and assess patients and their family system on readiness for change, identifying barriers and strengths to assist in necessary changes to support good outcomes. Some of the adolescents might be surgical candidates, and therefore assessing for the ability to comply with post-surgical requirements will be part of the task. The role also includes providing targeted treatment in the realm of individually, family, and group therapy.

The work is enhanced by being part of a medical team with solid experience in integrated work. Collaborative work with psychiatrists and other integrated clinicians in the MaineHealth system adds to the experience. Individual supervision, group supervision, psychiatry consultation, and quarterly trainings are benefits of this position.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Education: See "License/Certifications"
  • License/Certifications: Licensed Psychologist (PhD, PsyD) at the Doctoral Level. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Experience:Two years or more of work experience in a health or mental health setting preferred, in order to have proficiency in psychosocial assessment and treatment.
  • Knowledge of evidenced based clinical theories, therapies and techniques, as used in individual, family and group treatment, as well as principles of social welfare.
  • Ability to teach principles and applications to the medical setting.
  • Must have considerable knowledge of community resources and agencies and how to use them in resolving complex problems related to health, illness and disability.
