Main Street School is a small, independently accredited, non-profit school offering individualized, multi-aged and experiential education to children aged 3 through high school in Norwalk, Iowa. We are currently taking applications for an Elementary Teacher Positions for the 2024-2025 school year.
Job Summary:
● Using project-based learning and other educational methods tailored to each student,teachers facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through planning, organizing, and implementing an appropriate instructional program in an environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their potential.
● Would lead classroom of 6-10 students
Essential Functions:
Under the general supervision of the school director, the teacher will:
● Develop and administer a curriculum consistent with the needs of each child.
● Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized learning and small group instruction.
● Develop lesson plans and utilize instructional materials that result in high-quality learning experiences that maximize instructional time.
● Document student progress, activities, and outcomes.
● Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with and feedback to students and their parents/guardians regarding academic and social progress and goals.
● Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and modify instructional methods based on individual student needs.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education from an accredited institution.
