Hi! Green Acres Nursing and Rehab in La Plata, MD is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Nursing DON to lead our nursing team. The DON will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all nursing activities within our healthcare facility, ensuring the highest quality of patient care and compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Nursing Leadership: Provide visionary leadership to the nursing department, setting clear goals and expectations for the nursing team while fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Clinical Excellence: Ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based patient care by monitoring and evaluating nursing practices, standards, and protocols.
  • Staff Development: Train, and mentor nursing staff, promoting their professional growth and development. Encourage ongoing education and certification to enhance the skills and knowledge of the nursing team.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and accreditation requirements, including but not limited to CMS, Joint Commission, and state health department standards.
  • Quality Improvement: Lead quality improvement initiatives within the nursing department to enhance patient outcomes, patient satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
  • Resource Management: Oversee the allocation of nursing resources, including staffing, equipment, and supplies, to ensure efficient and cost-effective care delivery.
  • Patient-Centered Care: Champion a patient-centered care model by fostering strong nurse-patient relationships and ensuring that patient and family concerns are addressed promptly and compassionately.
  • Budget Oversight: Collaborate with the executive team to develop and manage the nursing department's budget, making data-driven decisions to optimize resource allocation.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement nursing-specific emergency response plans and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of patients and staff during crises.
  • Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track nursing department performance, making data-driven improvements as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Current Registered Nurse RN license in the state of Rhode Island.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • Previous experience as a DON required.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, quality improvement methodologies, and accreditation standards.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying up-to-date with healthcare industry trends.
  • CPR and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications preferred.
