The Massachusetts Association of Health Boards (MAHB), acting on behalf of the Bristol Public Health Emergency Preparedness Coalition, is seeking to hire an employee to serve as an Emergency Preparedness Planner to assist local health departments/boards of health within cities/towns in Bristol County by participating in state-sponsored drills and participating in the Region 5 HMCC. The candidate must begin development of an emergency response framework to guide the public health response in incidents/events within their community, develop a training needs assessment for the coalition, and maintain an up-to-date 24/7 Contact List of Public Health agents within the Coalition. The candidate must also develop and/or update plans, SOPs or other documents to enhance preparedness and response support for communities experiencing differences in health status due to structural barriers by identifying a risk from the Regional HVA. In addition, the planner will assist the coalition in focusing on and developing and/or updating plans, SOPs or other documents to incorporate identified health equity and whole community planning considerations. The planner is also responsible for completing and submitting the appropriate training/exercise forms to MDPH through the HMCC when expending PHEP funds for said training/exercise.
Applicants must be familiar with the roles and responsibilities of Massachusetts Emergency Preparedness Coalitions, emergency protocols, techniques and styles of public outreach and communication, emergency response planning, setting meeting agendas and assisting the Coalition Executive Committee in facilitating coalition meetings and the National Incident Management System and Incident Command System. Experience with exercises including facilitating, developing and implementing TTX, function and full scale.
A Master’s Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree with significant experience in emergency planning, healthcare, public health or a related field is required.
This full-time position will commence on or about July 1, 2024 and is subject to funding and budget approval.
