Network Maintenance Technician Length of Assignment: Full-time employee
Location: Albuquerque, NM
Summary:
The Network Maintenance Technician is integral to ensuring the smooth operation of a Telecom network, focusing on maintaining Service Level Agreements (SLAs), addressing customer service requests, and promptly responding to abnormal conditions or equipment status alarms. This role includes basic preventive maintenance tasks, executing Method of Procedures (MOPs), and other assigned duties. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrate technical proficiency for effective customer interactions.
Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot problems utilizing analytical, technical, and organizational skills.
Document and understand network infrastructure for effective maintenance and troubleshooting.
Respond promptly to network and facilities-based alerts and issues.
Execute preventive maintenance tasks to ensure network reliability and performance.
Qualifications:
4 years of experience in a POP, CO, or related telecom environment (replacing/installing packs, meeting customer security requirements, running and lacing cables).
Experience with DC maintenance, including battery routines and fuse replacement.
Associate or bachelor s degree in a related field preferred.
Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and adapt quickly.
High technical aptitude with networking technologies and protocols.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities concurrently.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective collaboration with colleagues, management, and contractors.
Equipment experiences preferred: Cisco 1100, Ciena, Nokia 7360, Edge Core P2/EMUX or equivalent.
Familiarity with Sonet and Broadband technologies, including ROADM and Ethernet (layer 1, layer 2, layer 3 OSI).
Ability to address issues promptly during normal working hours or when on call.
Proficient in computing and documentation with a professional demeanor.
Ability to meet physical demands of the role, including occasional lifting, climbing ladders, and exposure to moderate noise levels and mechanical parts.
