Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Dental Assistant to join our team. As a Dental Assistant, you will work closely with the dentist and dental hygienists to provide exceptional patient care. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting with dental procedures, taking and developing dental x-rays, maintaining patient records, and ensuring infection control protocols are followed.
Duties:
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations and procedures
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures by handing them instruments, suctioning, and providing patient support
- Take and develop dental x-rays as directed by the dentist
- Perform basic laboratory tasks such as pouring models and fabricating temporary crowns
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
- Ensure infection control protocols are followed, including sterilizing instruments and disinfecting treatment rooms
- Schedule patient appointments and manage the dental office's appointment calendar
- Assist with front desk duties such as answering phones, filing, and billing
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program
- Current certification in Dental Radiography
- Proficiency in Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Epic, or other dental practice management software
- Knowledge of medical coding for dental procedures
- Familiarity with taking vital signs and basic anatomy knowledge
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with CAD/CAM technology for digital impressions and restorations
- Previous experience as a dental receptionist or in dental office administration
