IMMEDIATE OPENING for a full-time Pediatrician to support the Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth, VA and associated Branch Medical Clinics. The primary site of service shall be located in the Pediatric Department, Pediatric Primary Care Clinic, Newborn Care Clinic and Inpatient Newborn Nursery at Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth.

Core Duties Includes, but not limited to:

• Perform a full range of Pediatrician services for pediatric patients (newborns, children, adolescents and young adults) on-site in a General Pediatrics Clinic, Newborn Care Clinic, Inpatient Pediatric units and Inpatient Newborn Nursery using government furnished supplies, facilities and equipment.
• Provide a full range of pediatric medicine services
• · Clinically oversee, perform, or assist in the instruction of, other health care professionals and pediatric residents seeing children [e.g., Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); diagnostic procedures; and minor surgical procedures such as incisions and drainage of abscesses, suture simple lacerations; etc.].
• Clinically oversee and teach other medical staff and pediatric residents; provide educational lectures and participate in the provision of in-service training to clinic staff members. Such clinical direction and interaction will adhere to government and professional clinical standards and accepted clinical protocol.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Degree: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.).
• Certification: Possess board certification in Pediatrics (by the American Board of Pediatrics) OR be a recent residency graduate. If you are a residency graduate (within 12 months), you must be scheduled for the board exam or waiting board results. All board exams results must be provided to NMCP within one week of receipt. Failure to pass the boards would result in ineligibility to provide services under this task order.
• Possess and maintain current BLS, Neonatal Resuscitation Certification (NRP) certification as recognized by the American Board of Pediatrics. Possess and maintain a Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Internship/Residency: Successful completion of an internship and residency program.
• Experience: Possess a minimum of one (1) year full-time experience as a Pediatrician in the last two (2) years OR be a recent residency graduate within the last twelve (12) months.
• Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine
