Magnetar Capital is Hiring a Corporate Credit Research Analyst Near New York, NY

The Corporate Credit Research Analyst will work alongside the Alternative Credit & Fixed Income investment team, based in our New York office.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quantitative and qualitative fundamental credit analysis on a variety of companies and industries
  • Build cash flow models from company financials (Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Cash Flow Statement) and perform sensitivity analysis
  • Perform analysis of pro-forma liquidity and recovery scenarios
  • Understand the customer base, competitive landscape, regulatory environment and management team of covered companies
  • Present research and analysis directly to the portfolio manager and the investment team
  • Help improve the fundamental corporate research process and database, maintained in Microsoft SQL, Python and Excel. Analyst will be given projects in between earnings cycles to enhance system efficiency and accuracy

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of experience in a buy-side fundamental credit analysis role
  • Understanding of credit analysis, including familiarity with liquidity and recovery analysis
  • Proficiency with Financial Accounting; ability to navigate and interpret cash flow statement, balance sheet, income statement and the notes to financial statements
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency with Python is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive, self-disciplined and entrepreneurial
  • Ability to work in pressure situations with short deadlines

In accordance with New York City’s Pay Transparency Law, the base salary range for this role is $80,000 to $120,000. Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits.
