Maggie’s Place is Hiring a Manager of Work Force Development Near Phoenix, AZ

The Workforce Development Manager is responsible for the creation and implementation of the workforce development training program for Maggie’s Place moms. This position will also maintain candidate databases, set up interviews, and screen prospective candidates. The Workforce Development Manager is responsible for assisting our moms in becoming employable, employed, and learning to be a productive employee (maintaining employment) through training, resume building and job interview preparation. Working with both the programs and development teams for special programs, such as job fairs, and communication with our community.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit and train current and Alumni moms as temporary stipend staff at the MP thrift store and seek internships with other partnering agencies for mom placements.
  • Meets with participants to determine their employability status by utilizing vocational services.
  • Create career goals based on interest assessments, education status, and employment history.
  • Develop and maintain skills training opportunities including resume and cover letter writing, mock interviews, completing job applications, etc.
  • Host employment classes and job fairs.
  • Build relationships with community partners to provide resources.
  • Build relationships with employment partners to provide employment opportunities.
  • Effectively communicate with participants via phone, email, video chat and in-person to discuss progress.
  • Partnering with Maggie’s Thrift to track client progress in the program and create individualized development plans based on participant needs and goals.
  • Host individual and group sessions.
  • Assist in the job application and hiring process including negotiating job accommodations and follow-along contact with the employer.
  • Provides individualized follow-along support to assist participants in maintaining employment.
  • Provides support in educational goals for participants who express interest in education to advance their employment goals including apprenticeships, GED completion, and college courses.
  • Provide constructive, trauma informed feedback to participants.
  • Design and implement classes and workshops that support program objectives.
  • Resolve internal staff conflicts efficiently and to the mutual benefit of those involved.
  • Maintain database regarding the workforce development program.
  • Work with Programs on job fairs and events and communicate information to our client community.
  • Any additional projects or tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Experience providing employment services, and knowledge of the work world are preferred. The ability to work as an effective team player is essential.
  • Effective, empathic listener.
  • A minimum of 3 years program experience working with a traumatized vulnerable population such as the population served by Maggie’s Place.
  • Must be able to represent/reflect Maggie’s Place in a positive and professional manner to all avenues of the community.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong positive interpersonal skills.
  • Must have effective organizational, problem-solving, time-management and analytical skills.
  • Strong decision-making skills supported by a proactive problem-solving approach.
  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities based on daily operations.
  • Ability to motivate and lead people and hold employees accountable.
  • Solution driven and a strong work ethic.
  • Availability some evenings and weekends.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must possess or have regular access to a reliable vehicle on a regular basis.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona driver license and active auto insurance.
  • Must be able to comply and meet the national and state criminal background check, national sex offender registry, and a Motor Vehicle Records check as required by Maggie’s Place.
  • The ability to lift 30 lbs. is required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
