Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Middletown, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a reliable and hard-working Drivematic Operator. As a key member of our manufacturing team, the successful individual will gain experience setting up, adjusting, and operating the drivematic machine for assemblies in the Aerospace Market.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Sets up, adjusts, and operates all types of drivematic machines for depth, hole size, including tool installation, adjustments and set up verification. Selects proper drills, upper and lower anvil assemblies and installs in machine.
  • Loads parts into machine.
  • Analyzes job in terms of assembly requirements and tool access limits. Must be familiar with customer assembly and riveting specifications. Must be knowledgeable about pressure application based on the part in work.
  • Checks own work as necessary and has thorough knowledge of causes and remedies for defects.
  • Uses micrometers, 6" ruler and rivet inspection gauges.
  • Must meet certification standards in the proper set up and operation of assigned drivematic riveting machines.
  • Must be proficient in all manual riveting operations.
  • Basic housekeeping to clean up the area from the work performed and to maintain the housekeeping in the area using the proper conventional utensils (brooms, dusters, wet/dry rags, wet/dry vacuums), but excluding the use of mops and automatic floor scrubbers (i.e. Tennant floor scrubber). Maintaining the area includes material, parts, machines, tools and work tables used in manufacturing as well as objects used to store or stage items used in manufacturing.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

  • Blue Print Reading and drawings. Shop orders. Machine Manuals.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Each employee must practice safety awareness by thinking defensively, anticipate unsafe situations, report unsafe conditions immediately and comply with all safety regulations.
