**JOB DESCRIPTION****Job Title: Child Care Teacher Job Code: 880249****Status: Hourly Rate of Pay: $15.60/hr credit for related experience Sign-on Bonus: $1000** **DEPARTMENT FUNCTION/JOB OVERVIEW** The Child Care Teacher assumes primary care for an assigned group of children to include providing basic care of children, preparing for activities and recording and sharing child’s progress. Work will be performed in an ethical and legal manner following organizational policies, processes, protocols and procedures. Responsible for quality service delivery and internal/external customer relations for Madonna as a whole, including upholding the mission and values for the department and facility. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS** (INFORMATION)1. Obtains educational materials required to implement the daily activity. 2. Observes and records significant individual and group behavior. 3. Maintains confidentiality of records and work information.4. Adheres to facility and departmental policies and procedures when responding to routine and non-routine work demands. 5. Knowledge of developmentally appropriate teaching methods and practices to provide for activities for and interactions with assigned children. 6. Knowledge of the stages of development and basic childcare practices. (PEOPLE)1. Communicates the daily activities of children to parents. 2. Communicates with facility personnel, coworkers, and parents. 3. Assists with supervision of students and volunteers assigned to assist with activities. 4. Participates in parent/teacher conferences. 5. Knowledge of behavior modification techniques. 6. Ability to react appropriately under stress and emergency situation. 7. Ability to recognize and relay significant individual and group behavior. 8. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Must follow written and oral directions as given by parents, teachers, or supervisors. 9. Follows instruction from supervisor to perform other functions as assigned in order to achieve the goals within the department and/or system.(THINGS)1. Provides for basic care of assigned children. 2. Provides for and conducts daily activities for children. 3. Attends staff meetings and development programs as required; participates in in-services and continuing education as required by state law. 4. Performs other related duties as assigned. 5. Skill in coordinating and performing basic art and craft activities. 6. Maintain and ensure a safe environment for the department. Handles and operates all necessary equipment and performs required duties according to established safety standards to maintain compliance with regulations and prevent injury.**PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS** Must have constant near visual acuity with ordinary hearing and speaking skills. Must be able to occasionally lift 50 pounds with frequent lift and carry of 35 pounds. Must tolerate frequent sitting and standing throughout the work shift. Requires frequent bending and stooping. Must tolerate occasional to frequent horizontal reaching with both arms. Frequent grasping of both hands requiring normal grip strength based on national averages. May be exposed to biohazardous materials and body fluids. **QUALIFICATIONS** (Education/training and/or Experience) High school diploma or equivalency required. Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education preferred. Prior experience providing child care or working in a child care environment desired. Incumbent must be 18 years of age or older. Must have valid Nebraska driver’s license and proof of good driving record. CPR for Health Care Provider/CPR for Professional Rescuer and first aid required_._ Must complete all in-service hours required by the State of NE; by November of the current year. Background checks are conducted. When specific authorization forms are requested so that full background and history can be obtained, employees/applicants must sign the form(s) requested.
