Purpose of Position: The Head Girls Soccer Coach will oversee the entire West HS Girls Soccer Program and instruct the varsity high school girls soccer team. The Head Coach is responsible for helping each student-athlete gain success by reaching their full potential in the classroom and on the field.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise the Girls Soccer program coaching staff including Varsity Assistant, Junior Varsity (JV), and JV2 coaches.
Length of Work:
WIAA 2024 Spring Sports Season
Working Conditions:
Will be expected to work evenings and weekends. Will also be expected to work in various outdoor weather conditions.
Physical Requirements:
The job will require you to stand for extended periods of time, while coaching at practices and games.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Competitive playing experience in soccer at the high school level.
Previous successful soccer coaching experience with preference to coaches with prior successful experience as a varsity head soccer coach.
Demonstrated knowledge of a wide range of contemporary high school and college soccer offensive, defensive, and off-season training systems.
Commitment to year-round personnel skill enhancement, strength training, and program improvement.
Successful experience providing positive motivation and development of student-athletes; including year-round monitoring of their conduct, behavior, and academic performance.
Demonstrated ability to maintain open, positive communication with coaching staff, student-athletes, parents, and appropriate sub-varsity and youth soccer program coaches.
Demonstrated knowledge of instructional progressions of high school and college soccer techniques.
Demonstrated ability to analyze opponent tendencies (scouting) and to design responsive strategies (game planning).
Current certification in first aid with preference for course work in sports-medicine, injury prevention, and/or rehabilitation, and cooperation with team or family physicians.
Current certification, or must obtain within one month of employment, CPR/AED certification from a national certifying organization.
Successful experience in athletic budgeting, supplemental fund raising, and long-range planning for enhancement and maintenance of equipment inventories.
Successful experience in leading an integrated high school soccer program which encompasses all levels of competition within the program.
Demonstrated ability to work with and coach diverse populations.
Knowledge of WIAA eligibility standards and prior experience reinforcing good sportsmanship and compliance with athletic codes among team members and members of the soccer coaching staff.
Demonstrated ability to integrate a soccer program into the student-athlete's total school experience.
Ability to integrate the student-athlete's experience in the soccer program into the overall mission of Madison West High School and its Athletic Department.
If no teaching license, successful completion of an approved coach's education course (e.g. NFHS or ASEP) or the ability to complete the course prior to the second season of coaching.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Valid teaching license.
College playing experience.
College coaching experience.
Demonstrated ability to successfully implement a soccer program in a high school setting.
