Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other responsibilities may be required and assigned.

A) Provide instruction to students, including:

• Use of recommended materials
• Follow lesson plans provided by the regular Teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students
• Effective instructional practices and teaching strategies
• Various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations
• Instructing students individually and in groups, equitably

B) Provide classroom management

• Establishing clear objectives and expectation during class time
• Establishing rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible
• Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment
• Engage students in meaningful ways to help inform classroom culture and success in learning

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Ability to follow written/oral directions
• Ability to use provided tools and resources (computer, smartboard,
• Build relationships with adults and youth
• Being dependable and able to adapt to changes
• Instructional Practice
• Experience working with children and youth (ages 4 years - 19 years)
• Experience working cross-culturally and/or commitment to work toward improving one's own cultural competence, i.e., valuing difference/diversity, recognizing personal limitations in one's skills and expertise, and having the desire to learn in these areas.

Salary

• Daily Rate is $182.34, $228.69 (7 consecutive days in the same assignment).

Residency

• We do not support HB-1 or work visas.

Minimum Qualifications

• Certified: Active WI Dept of Public Instruction license in teaching
• Permit: Associate's degree (or higher). MMSD offers paid substitute training

Desired Qualifications

• Teaching or work experience with school-age children, preferably in an academic setting
• Bilingual in English and Spanish and/or Hmong
