Work Unit Overview: Madison County Public Health Department’s mission is to protect and promote the health of county citizens and the environment through the efforts of dedicated and skilled employees and application of sound public health principles. The department’s role is to identify community health problems; assess and investigate health problems and health hazards in the community; and enforce laws and regulations that protect health and ensure safety.

Job Summary: The Mental Health Therapist will help Madison County citizens manage their mental health condition and provide education on mental health issues. The Mental Health Therapist is responsible for providing diagnostic assessments, therapy, counseling, and support services for a diverse caseload including adults, adolescents, and families experiencing mental health issues, communication challenges, or family conflict. The Mental Health Therapist will meeting with each patient, assess their current mental state, identify areas of concern, and develop a course of therapeutic treatment that can help them overcome or manage their issues. The Mental Health Therapist may also refer them to medical professionals for additional treatment, such as medication.
