Position Title: Building Food Service Supervisor
Reports to: Food Service Coordinator and Director of Quality Systems, Operations and Auxiliary Support
FLSA: Non-exempt
Summary of the position: Supervises the preparation and serving of attractive and nutritious meals to students in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness.
Completes daily production records and reports as required by the State Division of School Nutrition.
Qualifications: Demonstrate aptitude and/or abilities for performing the tasks required.
ServSafe Certification required. High school diploma or the equivalent.
Supervises: Cafeteria Cooks
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Is responsible for the preparation, within guidelines set by FDA, and serving of menus at all schools in conjunction with cafeteria cooks.
Order all food and supplies as directed by the Food Service Coordinator.
Supervise and instruct kitchen personnel in the safe, sanitary, proper, and efficient use of all kitchen equipment.
Maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen.
Check food shipments into the school and sign invoices only after each order has been verified.
Determine the quantity of each food to be prepared daily. Determine the size of servings to meet the necessary requirements.
Keeps records and prepares necessary reports as requested by the Food Service Coordinator. Meal count completed daily.
Confer with the Food Service Coordinator regarding any personnel problems and evaluate cafeteria personnel as appropriate.
Maintain an accurate monthly inventory of food and supplies.
Report to the Food Service Coordinator any failure or improper functioning of equipment.
Oversee the security of store rooms.
Prepare food according to planned menu and tested, uniform recipes.
Supervise and assist in training new employees.
Supervise the daily cleaning and sanitation of all kitchen equipment, dishes, silverware, and utensils.
Secures substitute cafeteria personnel when necessary.
Be able to operate all food service equipment.
Assist other staff in proper operation and equipment care.
Assume any responsibilities as may be assigned.
Physical Demands/Special Considerations: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of the job successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands to finger, handle or feel object, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
