APPLICANTS 14 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER ARE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY
MUST POSSESS A VALID LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION AND BE 15 BEFORE THEIR FIRST SHIFT
Testing for New Lifeguards: A Water Skills Exam will be administered. The exam will cover a 200-yard swim, two (2) minute tread, brick retrieval from deep water, and testing of lifeguarding skills.
THE CURRENT RECRUITMENT MAY BE UP TO 75 VACANCIES, OR UNTIL THE NEEDS OF THE DEPARTMENT ARE MET.
- Enforce and explain rules, policies, and procedures on a frequent basis
- Resolve customer complaints
- Monitor patrons to ensure their safety
- Perform first aid
- Attend weekly in-service training
- Respond to emergencies on land and in water
- Call EMS as needed
- Administer swim test
- Manage disruptive behavior
- Save lives
- Maintain cleanliness of facility
- Clean and maintain beaches
- Perform related work as required
- Certification in American Red Cross Lifeguard with CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuers and First Aid or equivalent.
- Applicants currently enrolled in certification or courses will be considered, however cannot be scheduled to lifeguard until certification is obtained.
- Swim 200 yards, tread water without use of hands for two (2) minutes, and retrieve a 10 pound brick from deep water.
