Position Summary
Mental Health Specialist
Be a part of something that is changing the lives of young adults managing mental illness!
We are looking for an energetic, creative, and strategic mental health specialist to facilitate and oversee healthy programming while assessing the appeal and growth of the activities and members at Madi’s House, a nonprofit organization in the tri-state area.
We are a free non-residential mental health hangout for recovering young adults. Young adults come to Madi’s House to hangout after institutionalization as a bridge between organized treatment and returning to everyday life. We are a place to help young adults find community and like-minded friends while filling their time with healthy programs.
Roles and Responsibilities
● Offer individualized and group assistance and support during programming, assessing
members needs and identifying and reducing barriers on-site as a supervisor
● Coordinate, participate and provide assistance within the continued development, inclusion, and outreach services with members
● Cross program collaboration to develop content, identify needs and facilitate group workshops on activities and topics within organization and provide recommendations to programs for best practices
● Assist staff with developing appropriate tools, and consult and train staff to administer tools, specifically within the volunteer training program
● Participate in any/all required trainings related to programs, services and/or subject matter
● Provide compassion and kindness to all Madi’s House members
● Act as a subject matter expert and advisory resource to program staff
● Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Prior Experience
● Bachelor’s degree in psychology, mental health, social service, or related area
● Master’s or PhD Candidate in psychology, mental health, social service, or related area preferred
● 1-3 years’ experience in a position with similar responsibilities
● Prior experience working in a non-profit organization or mental health space preferred
● Demonstrates empathy and adaptability
● Strong multi-tasking skillset
● Exceptional organizational skills and people skills
● Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
● Comfortable performing member and community outreach
