POSITION TITLE: MASSAGE THERAPIST

DEPARTMENT: MEDICAL

LOCATION: San Andreas, California 

STARTING SALARY: $38.43-$46.39

POSITION SUMMARY:

The purpose of this position is to provide massage therapy services to patients in the clinics of MACT. The primary role is to perform massage and bodywork for patients to relieve muscular pain and tension, normalize joint function, increase circulation and relieve stress through various modalities of treatment. Works with providers and collaborates with other practitioners to provide exceptional integrative medical care to patients. Plays an integral role within the care team, acting as a resource and educator to patients, family members and clinic staff.

Requires an awareness and keen appreciation of Indian traditions, customs and socioeconomic needs; an ability to meet and deal effectively with Indian Health Organizations, consisting of numerous tribes with varied cultures which requires tact, courtesy, discretion, resourcefulness, and good judgment in handling functions of a sensitive nature.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Consult with clients about their medical histories and problems with stress or pain to determine how massage will be most helpful.

2. Massage and knead muscles and soft tissues of the body to provide treatment for medical conditions, injuries, or wellness maintenance.

3. Maintain massage areas by restocking supplies or sanitizing equipment.

4. Apply finger and hand pressure to specific points of the body.

5. Develop and propose client treatment plans that specify which types of massage are to be used.

6. Maintain treatment records. Document patient’s conditions and progress.

7. Assess clients' soft tissue condition, joint quality and function, muscle strength, and range of motion.

8. Provide clients with guidance and information about techniques for postural improvement and stretching, strengthening, relaxation, and rehabilitative exercises.

9. Treat clients in professional settings.

10. Refer clients to other types of therapists when necessary.

11. Prepare and blend oils and apply the blends to clients' skin.

12. Consult with other health care professionals, such as physiotherapists, chiropractors, physicians, and psychologists, to develop treatment plans for clients.

13. Perform other adjunctive therapies or treatment techniques in addition to massage. Such as Aromatherapy, Breathing Techniques, etc.

14. Use complementary aids, such as infrared lamps, wet compresses, ice, and hot stones to promote clients' recovery, relaxation, and well-being.

15. Massage therapist may specialize in different massage modalities, such as but not limited to, Swedish, Deep-Tissue, Cupping, Hot Stones, Myofascial, Reflexology, Prenatal, Craniosacral, and Dynamic Stretching, Lymphatic Massage, Vascular Flushing and Trigger Point focus.

16. Maintaining professionalism and cleanliness of therapy room.

17. Provide consistent professional massage and bodywork treatments within the scope of practice.

18. Practice necessary precautions while working with clients.

19. Document and chart with in NextGen through SOAP notes for encounters.

20. Listen to patient’s feedback and adjust massage techniques as needed.

21. Uphold all health and safety standards.

22. Maintain patient confidentiality through HIPPA and approach each patient with sensitivity and compassion.

23. Comply with all MACT policies and procedures.

24. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

1. Completion of a post-secondary training program in massage therapy.

2. Current CAMTC License for California requirements.

3. Current AHA BLS CPR Certification

4. Ability to stand for long periods.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must pass Occupational Health Screening.

2. Must possess a valid form of identification as listed on the U.S. Department of Justice I-9 form, verified using the E Verify system.

3. Clean DMV driving record and MACT auto insurance driving eligibility (determined by auto insurance carrier).

4. Valid CA Driver’s license and automobile insurance.

3. Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs.

4. Safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security, report and/or correct unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs.

5. Confidentiality of all data, including patient, employee and operations data.

6. Quality Assurance and compliance with all regulatory requirements.

7. Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from sexual harassment and all illegal and discriminatory behavior.

8. Cooperates and works together with all co-workers plan and complete job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgment.

9. Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.

10. Follows up as appropriate with supervisor and co-workers regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns.
