Macon-Bibb County Government is Hiring a GCIP Intern Near Macon, GA

The Office of the Circuit Public Defender for the Macon Judicial Circuit (OCPD-Macon) provides quality and ethical legal representation in accordance with the Constitution of the state of Georgia, the Constitution of the United States and the mandates of the Georgia Indigent Defense Act of 2003. The OCPD -Macon office represents indigent persons in Superior and Juvenile Courts charged with crimes in Macon-Bibb, Crawford and Peach Counties. The OCPD employs a fulltime staff of 37 (attorneys, investigators, and support staff) and opens 4,000 cases per year.

The intern will primarily be housed in the Macon Bibb County office, located in downtown Macon. Interns will become familiar with Macon-Bibb County's role and functions with respect to the criminal legal process. Interns will cultivate a professional work ethic, deepen awareness of the indigent population and demonstrate the value of leadership in public service. The intern will also be evaluated on their interaction with the indigent population provides a unique learning experience and emphasizes the importance of public service in the government sector, specifically within judicial system.

Qualifications: Candidates must be currently enrolled in college as an undergraduate or graduate student, or be a College graduate within six (6) months of the start date of the internship; or be a high school student dually enrolled in a college or university and are 16 years of age or older.
