Macomb Intermediate School District is Hiring a Data & Assessment Consultant Near Clinton, MI

The primary role of the Data and Assessment Consultant is to work with the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction/ Chief Academic Officer and other staff to promote authentic assessment data and accountability analysis in Macomb County.
DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO: Assistant Superintendent for Instruction/ Chief Academic Officer
Minimum Qualifications
  • A strong background that includes training in the areas of K-12 curriculum and statistical evaluation.
  • Knowledge and experience in the development and administration of assessment instruments.
  • A Master’s degree or higher and a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate.
  • At least five years of successful classroom teaching experience in K-21 public schools.
  • Experience as a leader in curriculum, instructional methods and professional learning.
  • Experience in planning and presenting both short and long range professional learning including presentation skills and facilitating a variety of adult groups.
  • Knowledge and experience in data interpretation and instructional change based on that interpretation.
  • Expertise in the areas of Michigan Education Assessment System (M-STEP, MME, MI-Access, and WIDA) and state approved benchmark assessments.
  • Knowledge in current federal and state accountability systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Ability to assist school staff in making connections between curriculum, instruction and assessment. This should include an understanding and experience with the formative assessment process, a balanced assessment system including the construction and evaluation of quality assessments.
  • Experience in data management and warehousing in addition to creating and manipulating charts and spreadsheets.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Knowledge of K-12 Common Core Standards and instruction principles as well as historical and contemporary practices.
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of instructional technologies, including but not limited to stand-alone and on-line computer systems, voice and video devices and appropriate software applications.
  • A strong statistical background with computer programming experience.
  • Knowledge of Performance Matters, Tableau, Excel and a statistical package (R, SPSS, SAS, etc.) is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with colleagues and constituents, both individually and as a member of teams.
  • Self-directed and motivated.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule involving early morning, evening, and/or weekend assignments as needs dictate.
Responsibilities Will Include, But Not Be Limited To
  • Working with local building and district teams as they work through state assessments, required benchmark assessments and accountability systems including school designations as well as the continuous improvement process.
  • Training local school district staff in school-based program evaluation.
  • Conduct research and evaluations, as appropriate, to meet MISD and local school district needs.
  • Work with the Consultant Services Department staff to provide the many department services to local district educators.
  • Analyze local and state assessment results and accountability measures.
  • Keep historical records secure of local and state assessments and accountability.
  • Serve on and participate with internal and external committees as determined by the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction/ Chief Academic Officer.
  • Remain current and conversant with the latest thinking in all areas related to the specific staff assignment.
  • Perform other related tasks as directed by the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction/ Chief Academic Officer.
WORK LOCATION: Educational Service Center
WORK YEAR: 186 Days (with an opportunity to work additional days based upon availability of funds)
UNION: This position would be within the Macomb Intermediate Federation of Teachers.
SALARY: To be determined by qualifications and experience per the Consultant Salary Schedule of the MIFT Master Agreement
