Mackin Book Company is Hiring a MackinMaker: Maker Education Consultant Near Burnsville, MN

Mackin Educational Resources is a well-established, highly respected company known nationally for distribution of K12 educational resources (books, digital materials, LMS platforms, stem education products, etc.) as well as our legendary customer service to schools worldwide.
MackinMaker , which is Mackin's STEM focused hands-on learning division, is looking for a full time Maker Education Consultant to join a Minnesota based team that provides STEM solutions to educators throughout the United States. The overall goal being to build and support Mackin's credibility in the market and to grow the educational content knowledge inside company. The right candidate will be someone who has a customer first mindset and strives to contribute to the success of the Mackin brand.
This position will be hybrid based out of our corporate office in Burnsville, MN and will include travel for onsite MackinMaker workshops, trade shows, and sales team support. If you have a background in current educational trends including literacy, STEM/STEAM, Makerspace, and digital content, we would love to hear about that in your application.
Responsibilities
  • Create and deliver custom professional learning solutions for customers through virtual webinars, onsite workshops, customer meetings, product recommendations and online courses.
  • Create proposals, contracts and help respond to RFPs.
  • Curate custom product recommendations for customers based on their needs.
  • Support operational tasks as needed through project management and internal customer service tasks like quotes or proposal design.
  • Research new hands-on learning/CTE products in the market and share with the MackinMaker team.
  • Become an expert in MackinMaker's product line to help customers make decisions and/or troubleshoot.
  • Create educational content to share with our education community (Blogs, eNewsletters, lesson plans, challenge cards, and more)
  • Effectively support a culture from a learning and development perspective where educator development is owned by the educator.
  • Attend and present at regional and national conferences.
  • Maintain tracking of leads, revenue, proposals, and contracts.
  • Support continuing education of MackinMaker's product line for the outside sales team.
  • Communicate with customers and vendors frequently.

Requirements

  • Experience in K12 education.
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule with an in-office day every week on Tuesday for internal department meetings and/or product testing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain good working relationships with colleagues and customers.
  • Experience with and confidence in your public speaking ability.
  • Needs to have a strong sense of establishing task priorities, accomplishing objectives in an effective and timely manner.
  • Creative, with a strong attention to detail to develop and implement new strategies.
  • Microsoft Office experience and basic knowledge of Excel.
  • Willingness to take on new responsibilities in the department as we grow.
Education & Experience
  • Experience providing professional learning for K12 educators.
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Basic understanding of the needs-based solution sales process.
  • Experience in a customer service position.
  • Experience surrounding implementing or facilitating school Makerspaces.
  • *Specifically, we are looking for a candidate with experience in high school hands on learning programs, preferred but not required.
  • Experience using a wide range of stem hands on learning products and being able to communicate effectively what specific learning outcomes they provide.
  • Experience in Career Technical Education (CTE) programs, preferred but not required.
Hours
  • Full-time day hours hybrid- onsite/remote
  • Travel required (up to 30%)
Wages
  • Negotiable, depending on education and experience
