Under the general supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Registered Nurse plans, organizes, and advocates for health services for adults with acquired brain injury served by the Adult Services Department. The residential programs are in Shrewsbury, Grafton, Boylston, Southborough and Hopkinton. Supervises a team of LPNs at assigned program sites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Advocates for the people served by the Adult Disabilities Services Department.
Assists with the development and implementation of health care standards, policies, and procedures.
Provides training and consultation to staff regarding policies and procedures in community residential home settings.
Reviews all incident reports involving health and safety issues, including mental health and behavioral incidents, and assists with follow-up care coordination, including protocol development, staff training and coordination of services in the community.
Oversees Medication Administration Program (MAP) by conducting routine audits of on-site documentation, providing specific and systemic response to medication errors, conducting MAP Certification Training, and providing on-call consultation on a rotating basis. Conducts reviews of MAP documentation and procedures of all assigned programs.
Conducts reviews of health care documentation to ensure program compliance with provider’s recommendations as well as MAB and DDS policies.
Develops and conducts in-service training to Adult Disability Service employees.
Identifies and facilitates the utilization of appropriate community resources.
Participates in regular supervision with the Director of Nursing.
Provides client-specific consultation to program staff, in conjunction with health care providers.
Assess new referrals during the intake process.
Provides on-call support to managers regarding medication occurrences and other issues related to health care and MAP issues.
Works as part of the wider nursing team and wider management team.
