Cost Accountant – M&M Manufacturing

We are seeking a Cost Accountant to provide financial support to manage and control manufacturing costs by collecting, analyzing, tracking and reporting cost variances for two plants in DFW. As the key liaison between operations and finance, this position is responsible for cost accounting, financial analysis, maintenance of inventory standards, review of product BOM and routings, efficiency and variance reporting, and assisting in month end closing.

The ideal candidate for this role will be a clear communicator and highly analytical. They will possess a curious disposition with a willingness to understand the “how” and “why” of the business and manufacturing process, as well as the motivation to seek it out.

This position will report to the Company’s Director of Finance and have frequent interaction with plant leadership.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Set and maintain standard costs and job costs and perform analyze impact from changes in labor rate, burden rate, material cost, bill of material and routing to inventory valuation.
• Support monthly close process by preparing month-end journal entries and performing production order closing as well as WIP evaluation.
• Perform monthly in-depth analysis and provide commentary for direct and period variances, including research of discrepancies and recommendations for corrective measures.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and sound financial controls.
• Review and analyze perpetual inventory transactions for accuracy, trends, and anomalies needing further investigation.
• Partner with plant personnel to ensure bill of material and routing accuracy.
• Provide regular reports on variance of job estimated profitability to actual.
• Conduct ad hoc cost analysis for current and simulated cost scenarios with recommendations to optimize cost structures and update estimating assumptions.
• Coordinate with operations for inventory control through assignment of ABC part categories and monitoring of cycle counts results.
• Participate in planning and organization of physical inventories and serve as accounting lead in review and validation of count accuracy and policy compliance.
• Assist in establishing and maintaining processes and procedures that accurately capture, track and report manufacturing costs in accordance with the company policy and GAAP.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best processes and practices to increase efficiency and accuracy.
• Provide data and reports on plant trends for monthly forecasting and annual budget planning.
• Complete projects, duties, and ad-hoc analysis as requested.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field

Experience

• Minimum of two solid years of Cost Accounting preferably in Build/Engineer to Order manufacturing environment
• Major ERP system exposure required, QAD experience preferred

Role will support two (2) plants located in Fort Worth and Garland. The incumbent is expected to be flexible to work in both locations as needed.

Hybrid Work-From-Home schedule available after training period

Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
