Lynx Career Center is Hiring a SERVICE ISLAND ATTENDANT A Near Orlando, FL

We are actively reviewing applications on a rolling basis, and those who meet the qualifications will be scheduled for interviews end of June. We anticipate starting the next class on July 29, 2024. LYNX is seeking to hire a Service Island Attendant “A” to fuel vehicles, check engine fluids, clean vehicles (inside and out in varying weather conditions), and drive buses through the wash rack. This position requires shift work including evenings, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays and is considered safety-sensitive and subject to the provisions of the Substance Abuse Program Policy for Safety Sensitive Positions. The value you’ll bring to LYNX and the Maintenance Team: You will be an integral part of the Service Island Team who are responsible for keeping our LYNX buses fueled and sparkly clean. Drive buses through wash rack and scrub exteriors; park buses in assigned locations.Add fuel to buses and service vehicles in fuel island; steam clean engines and other units.Check oil and water in buses and service vehicles and add as needed. Clean buses and service vehicles and complete cleaning forms.Check tires for air and tread conditions.Sweep and mop bus floors, clean interiors including walls, seats and windows; spray for insects as required.Operate automated cleaning equipment.Clean and remove trash from buses and support vehicles.Refill fare box with media cards.Operate Fork Truck as needed.Maintain written record of buses parked and cleaned; maintain a written record of vehicles to which fuel and oil was added. May enter servicing and cleaning data by using data entry equipment.Lift heavy covers and doors.Operate buses and support vehicles on public roadways and perform vehicle swap-outs.Perform other duties as may be required or assigned.The expertise and experience you’ll need to succeed: Required Qualifications:High School diploma or GED plus one year of full-time related work experience in a position successfully performing janitorial and/or industrial cleaning duties or a position responsible for the cleaning, maintenance and/or servicing of a variety of vehicles; or an equivalent combination of related education, training, or experience.Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class “B” with a “P” (Passenger) endorsement and airbrakes. Must possess and maintain a safe driving record.Must successfully pass the LYNX CDL Defensive Driving Course.Must pass a DOT physical exam and obtain a DOT Medical Card that is valid for at least one year. Below is the eligibility criteria for internal maintenance employees to be eligible for a promotion. In addition to meeting the job requirements, they must also meet these requirements. No Work Rule violations from Section 6 - Conduct, 6.1, General (Gross Misconduct) within the past twelve monthsNo more than three (3) write-ups for any reason within the past twelve monthsNo more than five (5) chargeable absences within the past twelve monthsNo suspensions within the past twelve monthsBelow is the eligibility criteria for internal bus operators to be eligible for a promotion. In addition to meeting the job requirements, they must also meet these requirements.No Class "C" violations within the past twelve monthsNo more than 1 Class “B” violation within the past twelve monthsNo safety related violations within the past twelve monthsNo more than three (3) Class"A" violations for any reason within the past twelve monthsNo more than five (5) chargeable absences within the past twelve monthsNo suspensions within the past twelve monthsNo more than three (3) miss-outs (combined Miss/MPW) within the past twelve monthsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):Knowledge of basic auto mechanics.Skilled in reading fuel/oil measuring devices.Skills and ability to read and write legibly; use basic math; and determine time of day or night.Ability to follow established safety practices.Ability to properly drive buses through wash rack and properly park buses.Ability to pressure wash engines, wheels and other parts of the bus.Ability to complete Work Orders, Fuel Cards and/or other required paperwork or electronic data entry forms.Ability to operate upholstery cleaning machine.Ability to work with chemicals and follow applicable MSDS guidelines.Ability to read, understand and interpret operations and service manuals.Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.Ability to effectively communicate in English, both orally and in writing.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with those encountered in the course of work using principles of excellent customer service.Ability to exhibit a professional, courteous demeanor.Ability to work in a diverse environment.Work Environment and Special Considerations:Will be available to work days, nights, weekends and holidays.The functions of this position are primarily performed outdoors under varying weather conditions with exposure to various fuels and other chemical agents. Must be able to work with commercial cleaners and toxic materials. Requires the stamina and ability to stand and fuel vehicles in all weather conditions; bend, stoop, walk, run, scrub, push, stretch, kneel and lift 50 lbs. Requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, speaking and color perception; dexterity in operating equipment.Incumbent is eligible for participation in the Bloodborne Pathogen Program.LYNX provides the community with much needed public transportation, and it is important for the Agency to resume its services as quickly and as safely as possible in the event of any natural, technological, or human-caused emergency or disaster. This position is considered a mission critical member of LYNX’s emergency preparation and response efforts during an emergency or disaster and as such, may be asked to work during these emergencies or disasters.
