The Kingdom East School District, Student Services, is seeking a 1.0 FTE Social Readiness Instructional Coach and Special Educator assigned to Lyndon Town School to run a social readiness program designed for children in an early childhood learning environment. This candidate provides direct instruction within a specialized program designed for early childhood students with social or developmental needs. The program serves a small group of learners with special needs as defined by Vermont Special Education and Federal IDEA Laws. The purpose of the program is to increase students’ ability to actively engage in expected preschool, kindergarten, and primary grade classroom behaviors in a small structured environment and generalize those skills across school settings. The position combines instruction coaching and special education where partnerships with preschool and kindergarten/primary grade teachers is essential in order to integrate students participating in the social readiness program into general ed preschool and primary classrooms in a least restrictive environment. The applicant must possess a thorough understanding of developmental and social skills needs, early childhood education, special education law, cognitive/social emotional development, IEP development, educational programming and classroom interventions within a multi-tiered system of supportive instruction. Lyndon Town School is team-oriented and works under a Professional Learning Communities (PLC) model.
