Lycoming College is hiring a Classroom Technology Support Specialist! This position supports web and app-based teaching resources, digital media technologies, computers, and audio/visual equipment in the classroom/lab environment. What will I do in this role?To support the mission of Technology-Enabled Learning Environments:
  • Respond and troubleshoot technical issues in the classrooms and teaching spaces.
  • Advise and instruct administration, faculty, and students in the correct use of classroom equipment, and develop and maintain user help and training documents.
  • Assist in supervising and training student assistants who deliver, operate, and provide support of audiovisual, computer, media equipment, and other electronic devices to classrooms and other campus event venues.
  • Assist in deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer workstations, laptops, iPads, and specialty devices (e.g. Chromebooks, Wacom Tablets, 3D Printers, VR equipment).
  • Assist with the building and testing of operating system, application configurations and specialty software installation for faculty, computer labs, laptops, iPads, and classroom devices utilizing scripting for PC, Mac, and Linux environments.
  • Manage and perform installation of specialty software for faculty, computer labs, laptops, iPads, and classroom devices utilizing scripting for PC, Mac, and Linux environments.
  • Monitor labs and classrooms for technology needs or upgrades and coordinate with User Experience team to resolve.
  • Maintain IoT buttons used in classrooms using Amazon Web Services
To support Academic Technology:
  • In coordination with the Assistant Director of IT, assess faculty technology requirements and recommend appropriate solutions for creating/maintaining instructional materials and delivery of learning content.
  • Support Assistant Director of IT in advising and instructing faculty on pedagogical strategies and academic technology resources.
  • Conduct individual, group, and/or classroom training sessions on digital applications for liberal arts curriculum.
  • Create documentation supporting academic technology.
  • Assist with supporting the Learning Management System (LMS) application environment, including end user support and integration of data for courses and user access.
  • Support the use of digital technologies and rich media tools, including mobile devices, multimedia applications, storytelling, simulations, games, and augmented/virtual reality.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness about pedagogy and emerging instructional technologies.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and share trends in academic technology.
  • Explore new technologies, materials, and techniques to foster innovation and creativity.
What are we looking for?Education and Experience
  • Associate or bachelor's degree preferred or 3-5 years of experience supporting web and app-based teaching resources, media equipment, digital media technologies, computers, and audio/visual equipment.
Knowledge and Skill Set
  • Must have well-developed interpersonal skills to work with students and faculty.
  • Be able to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Demonstrate ability to be detail oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability with management skills to supervise student assistants.
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills.
  • Manage delivery and support of equipment.
  • Be able to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Responsibilities include classroom support during instructional hours.
  • Demonstrated fluency with standard computer applications (such as Office365 suite), video conferencing/lecture capturing software (e.g. Zoom, Teams, etc.).
  • Specialized instructional software (e.g. Moodle), and administrative software (e.g. Intune, Kace, Jamf). Established alignment to effective customer service required.
