Job description

Lycée International de Houston Elementary Section is expanding and seeking English and Literature Middle/High School Teacher to start As Soon as Possible. Lycée International de Houston is looking for an energetic candidate, with excellence, rigor, and kindness as the core value at the Lycée International de Houston Bilingual School, our vision is to prepare multilingual, academically, and socially prepared students to become leaders and positively impact their communities. Creative teacher who will interact and will make a great impact in our students and colleagues in a professional setting and wants to become part of our LIH Faculty Team. Only candidates with experience related to the position will be contacted. Successful candidates will have to undergo a background check.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA or equivalent in Education (Preferred)
  • International and/or independent school experience
  • English proficiency
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Positivity, open-mindedness, and adaptability to a multicultural environment
  • Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and diverse language and cultural backgrounds.
  • Basic Computer skills (use the internet emailing system, read/reply to emails and open attachments, create word processing documents in Microsoft Word, etc.)
  • Work Authorization in the United States

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching skills for multicultural school environment
  • Communicate students’ progress with students and family on a weekly basis.
  • Effective facilitation and use technology as a communication and educational online learning software’s and platforms to improve students’ achievements and manage work teaching related tasks.
  • Ability to develop a great learning environment, and positive relationships with students, parents, and co-workers.
  • High level of energy, creativity, and commitment
  • Great classroom management skills
  • Demonstrate professional respectfulness in collaboration with other Middle and High School teachers in same grade level and all staff.
  • Ability in differentiating EAL students.
  • Experienced with creating and implementing lesson plans according to school curriculum assessing and evaluating students as necessary.
  • Effectively teaching the curriculum and following school guidelines including creating appropriate lesson preparation and evaluating students appropriately.
  • Collaborate in events, duties and other school activities like open houses, parents’ meetings, field trips, fairs, exhibitions, and festivals.
  • Additional responsibilities may include teacher weekly duties as for example, carpool, recesses, lunch duty, and after-school Study Hall ESL/Homework support.
  • Attending and participating positively in faculties, subjects, and cycle meetings as scheduled by Head of School.
  • Physically able to monitor student discipline and progress and meet students’ needs as required.
  • Physically able to move about the room to perform formative assessments and adequately facilitate small and large group instruction.
  • Minimum of 40 hours spent at school per week.

Working Conditions:

Standing for long periods of time. Frequent stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing, relocating stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment. The level of mobility required depends upon the grade level of teaching assignment(s) and requirements. Must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
