LWB Consulting is Hiring a Billing Specialist - Behavioral Health Near Elmhurst, NY

A longstanding not-for-profit outpatient community behavioral health clinic in Queens, NY seeks a personable and organized team member with billing experience in a behavioral health clinic or medical office to join our team.

Under the supervision of the Billing Manager, they will conduct verification of insurance benefits, contact insurance companies to resolve claim denials/eligibility requirements and interface with clients regarding insurance problems. Our Billing Specialist will perform the following functions:

· Ensure billing, payment posting and claims resubmission processes are completed timely and accurately;

· Process electronic payments and checks in software system are as received and carry out posting and reconciliation of all patient accounts;

· Review and analyze EOBs payer correspondence to identify denials;

· Perform daily tasks in assigned work queues;

· Communicate denials trends/issues to management;

· Verify patients benefits calling insurance and or payer web portal;

· Answer incoming calls from patients.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required) and 2 years of insurance experience (commercial, Medicare and Medicaid).
  • Prior experience with Managed Care, NY State-OMH, NY State-OASAS and third-party processes and billing practices preferred.
  • Certification in medical billing and/or coding preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Office and database management. Experience working in an EMR system.
  • Knowledge of Federal and NY State patient privacy regulations/laws.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously, track work details, and respond flexibly to change.
  • Ability to remain calm, focused and helpful under stress.
  • Excellent communication, follow-up and interpersonal skills.
