Lutheran Immigration Refugee Service is Hiring a Virtual R&P Regional Referral Coordinator Near Houston, TX

In April 2024, Global Refuge, in partnership with the Department of State's Bureau for Populations, Refugees, and Migration, will launch a new virtual case management program, the Virtual Reception & Placement (VR&P) program. This program will provide case management services to refugees and Special Immigrant Visa holders for the first 90 days after their arrival, providing Reception & Placement (R&P) services, virtually.

The Regional Referral Coordinator will provide supportive services to newly arriving refugees. The Regional Referral Coordinator will work with VR&P clients and Global Refugee staff to ensure clients access local benefits and assistance and ensure onward referrals within the community such as to state-funded programs, ORR-funded Preferred Communities program, Refugee Support Services, etc. Staff will also ensure clients are equitably allocated to local affiliates within a given community for ongoing services. The Regional Referral Coordinator reports to the National Resource & Referral Manager.

DUTIES

  • Ensure the VR&P team is well-equipped to support newly arriving refugees with beneficial resources and referrals.
  • Ensure that resources needed to support the day-to-day delivery of VR&P case management and referral services are streamlined and easily accessible to both staff and clients.
  • Cultivate new relationships with local service providers, referral partners, and local employment programs in close collaboration with the VR&P case management team.
  • Support the development of outreach and training materials geared towards local community organizations and partners.
  • Support the development of an easy, efficient way for VR&P staff to access information and resources that support the self-sufficiency of arriving refugee families.
  • Provide technical assistance to staff with questions relating to regional and local resources to support service delivery.
  • Alleviate concerns around VR&P clients accessing local benefits and assistance and ensure onward referrals within the community.
  • In close collaboration with the Case Manager, ensure that newly arriving refugees are being served in a linguistically and culturally appropriate manner within the community and provide education and advocacy when necessary.
  • Ensure clients are firmly connected to ongoing services and support including state-funded programs, ORR-funded Preferred Communities program, Refugee Support Services, etc.
  • Work in collaboration with other internal and external Regional Referral Coordinators to ensure there is shared knowledge and cohesion among the team.
  • Participate in performance-related goal setting and achievement to meet personal and organizational objectives and goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or behavioral/human services field or two years of experience providing case management and/or social services preferred.
  • Experience working with refugees, immigrants, or limited English speakers, is highly preferred.
  • Fluency in one of the key languages used by client populations is highly preferred (including Spanish, Dari, and Pashto).
  • Proficient in the use of MS Word, MS Excel, and database programs.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, troubleshoot, and follow projects through with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work as a team member and independently, with a high level of self-motivation.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including keen listening ability and relationship building.
  • Must have reliable transportation, a clean driving record, and valid insurance and be able to travel locally as required.
  • Cross-cultural or international experience preferred.
  • Deep commitment to Global Refuge's core values and ability to model those values in relationships with colleagues and partners, visiting other sites.
