Position Summary:
The Supervisor of Economic Empowerment will oversee the daily operations of employment staff and services to ensure quality and timely program delivery, with the overarching goal of working with people to move toward economic self-sufficiency. This position supervises staff working on issues pertaining to pre- and post-employment services, including pre-employment training, budgeting, career counseling, employment placement, skill development, and supportive services included in employment service provision, as well as coordination between employment services and other necessary service areas within and outside of the program.
Job Duties:
Oversee daily operations of employment staff and services
Support the Director of Economic Empowerment with establishing department goals and monitoring progress
Supervise staff and ensure adherence to service provision standards and program outcomes
Ensure employment services are provided to clients consistently and professionally
Carry a caseload of employment services cases as warranted
Ensure all data tracking for area of supervision are captured and accurate and timely donor reporting for areas of supervision are completed
Cultivate knowledge of, and relationships with, external programs offering opportunities for clients to improve their skills and overall career development
Supervise employment staff, focusing on client assessment, skills assessment, budget, and self-sufficiency planning, including removing barriers to employment and self-sufficiency and developing short-term and long-term goals and career pathways
Work to improve program guidance available to staff through updated program manual and other materials
Conduct regular reviews of staff files to ensure service quality and compliance.
Perform Hiring, training, performance evaluations & terminations for all direct reports
Identify and coordinate training opportunities for staff to enhance their skills
Identify partnership opportunities with external stakeholders related to employment services that can benefit clients
In partnership with program leadership, develop multi-year operational plans
Work with other department team members to ensure coordinated service between focus areas where possible
Develop, assess, and manage team goals
Leadership based on team empowerment and communication
Look for opportunities to enhance current programming through external funding and program development
Ensure compliance with all grant and contract reporting requirements
Other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
Experience working with employers and employment placement
Knowledge and experience in interviewing and employment counseling preferred
Knowledge of the local economy, labor market, employer base, and workforce system
A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and the ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse organization
Experience working with limited English-speaking individuals
Knowledge and experience working with refugees, asylees, and other immigrant groups
Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and interpersonal skills (listening skills, problem-solving) to effectively interact with individuals within and outside LFS
Experience supervising others and managing a team approach to service
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Regular and predictable attendance, and promptness for work

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in related field; Masters level preferred
Three to five years of experience working with employment placement of individuals
Experience working with Limited English-Speaking populations
Bilingual in a language spoken by current refugee populations preferred
