Custodian

Full-time Position: 40 hours per week

Hours: Monday through Friday (weekends as needed)

The Mission

In support of the mission and vision set forth by the congregation, the Custodian will:

· Support the ministries of the church through a variety of responsibilities.

· Work independently but collegially to fulfill the duties of the position.

· Oversee the facility and grounds of the church.

Key Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Maintain a high level of cleanliness in the facility and on the grounds.

· Provide light maintenance in the facility, including regular and routine maintenance and repairs for all aspects of the building. This includes appliances, HVAC, fixtures, furniture, and resources for cleaning and maintenance.

· Work with the staff to prepare the facility for events by setting up tables and chairs as requested.

· Maintain inventory of cleaning and maintenance products within a budget. Provide lists of products needed to the Office Manager for purchasing.

· Communicate the needs of the facility and grounds to the Property Board as appropriate.

· Maintain lawn mowers and other equipment.

· Snow removal at entrances and on sidewalks. Oversee the snow removal contract for the parking lot.

· Request bids and oversee repairs and maintenance needed to be performed by independent companies as determined in conversation with the Lead Pastor and/or Property Maintenance Board.

Skill Development Expectations:

· Stay familiar with and supportive of the ministries and mission of the congregation.

· Take advantage of continuing education opportunities offered in custodial and facility maintenance.

Accountability and Reporting

The Custodian will:

· Report directly to the Lead Pastor and the Property Board.

· Participate in a 30 and 90 day review the first year, and an annual review thereafter to assess the Custodian’s effectiveness in fulfilling the responsibilities of the position.

· Attend all appropriate gatherings of staff as determined by the Lead Pastor.

· Conduct herself/himself in a manner supportive to the whole staff.

Compensation and Support

Lutheran Church of the Cross (LCC) will support the Custodian in their work through our prayers, respect, and support for the sake of our shared ministry in Christ’s name.

Financial Compensation & Benefits

· $21 per hour determined by experience.

· Retirement contribution matched up to 3% annually.

· Paid time off in accordance with the LCC Administrative Staff Vacation Policy.

· Holiday and sick pay.
