The Position

The position of Line Crew Technician is responsible for installation and maintenance of poles, cables, and facilities attached to poles. Position requires a high degree of safety, the ability to work at heights, and the ability to climb poles.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform all related activities for construction and maintenance of outside plant facilities in varying environments
  • Includes pole placement, anchor placement, cable placement, and cable re-arrangements
  • Must have a working knowledge of NESC, OSHA and State rules and regulations
  • Must be familiar with deadline driven construction environments
  • May perform shift work as projects dictate
  • Must perform repairs of outside plant and be available for on call repair coverage
  • Must obtain and maintain a commercial vehicle operators license
  • Record and maintain OSPC related record sets
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate degree in electronics preferred, but not required
  • Experience: Two years line construction experience is preferred. Must be certified, or obtain certifications in accordance with local and state highway safety regulations. Must be able to qualify for a commercial driver’s license from the State.
  • Key Competencies:
  • Basic troubleshooting skills
  • Organized approach to work
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Knowledge of NESC, OSHA rules
  • Demonstrate safe work practices
  • Ability to work heights
  • Ability to, or ability to learn, to climb poles using gaffs and belt, and extension ladders

Pay: From $19.00 per hour
