Title: Food Service Attendant Lead - Retail

Position Objective:

Support the goals and objectives of the Food and Nutrition Services Department by performing the functions of various retail spaces with a primary focus on the New Tower Coffee Shop. Provides direction and assignments to employees. Maintains regulatory compliance. Assist with training as needed.

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Responsible for daily operations and oversight of the New Tower Coffee Shop.
  2. Performs cashier duties, which includes filling out settlement and deposit sheets correctly and getting all necessary items for the meal coupons.
  3. Leads daily activities of staff, provide guidance and oversight of work and provides staff training.
  1. Conducts daily rounds in the morning to assess what must be done for the day and ensures all employee breaks are covered.
  2. Monitors area for cleanliness, regulatory compliance, and delegates daily cleaning assignments.
  3. Performs various retail duties including restocking and preparing drinks for customers. Has a detailed knowledge of the products being served.
  1. Participates in the employee hiring process including position review, posting, interviewing and selection.
  2. Meets with Food Service Supervisor and/or Manager to discuss any issues if they arise.
  3. Demonstrates good customer service skills, includes acknowledging customers and attending to their needs.
  4. Performs other duties as assigned.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

Required Minimum Education. The minimum level of education for this position includes:

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Required Minimum Experience:

  • One year experience in a food service setting.

Required License/Certifications:

  • ServSafe Food Handler Certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Experience operating point of sale management software and systems.
  • Ability to effectively lead a team.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

Working Conditions, Equipment, Physical Demands:

Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

There is reasonable expectation that employees in this position will not be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.
