Position Overview:
The Cost Accountant will play a vital role in analyzing, monitoring, and reporting on the company's cost structures, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Cost Accountant will be responsible for various standard tasks related to cost accounting, as well as additional duties such as price estimation, post-calculation for finished projects, and serving as a backup for general accounting tasks. The Cost Accountant will collaborate closely with other members of the finance team, as well as cross-functional departments within the organization.
Minimum Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment.
· Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
· Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:
· Monitor production costs and variances, identifying areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
· Prepare and maintain standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead.
· Implement absorption calculation for monthly reporting, ensuring accurate allocation of overhead costs to products or departments.
· Assist in the development and implementation of cost accounting policies and procedures.
· Generate cost reports for management review.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data and insights on cost-related matters.
· Perform post-calculation analysis for finished projects to evaluate actual costs versus estimated costs, providing insights for future planning.
· Serve as a backup for general accounting tasks, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, and month-end closing activities.
· Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in cost accounting, recommending improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
