Job Description:

We are looking for a proactive and organized medical billing and collections specialist to join our growing Obstetrics and Gynecology Women's Health practice. The applicant must have a high level of integrity, discretion and willingness to collaborate with internal teams to optimize revenue cycle management. This position is full-time and in-office only.

Summary:

We are looking for an individual who can perform medical billing and collections tasks, including but are not limited to: billing in our practice management software, posting payments, answering patient questions and concerns by phone or personally in a fast-paced, patient-oriented, clinical environment. This position is full-time and in-office only.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure that accurate billing information is entered into the billing system.
• Communications with insurance providers, collections, cash posting and billing.
• Correctly coding diagnoses and procedures.
• Review patient encounters for accuracy and completeness and obtain any missing information.
• Accurately audit encounters of all-payer sources and generate claims for electronic or paper claims submission to ensure timely collections.
• All accounts are to be reviewed for insurance or patient follow-up: collections, appeals, billing, adjustments, EOB review, correspondence and managing all types of denials.
• Review and follow-up on unpaid EOB’s to ensure follow-up is done on a timely basis.
• Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances.
• Post payments. Check each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract discounts.
• Efficiently managing patient concerns with respect to billing and collections.
• Timely and efficiently managing refund requests from patients and insurance companies.
• Make collection calls and/or write collections correspondence
• All other duties assigned by the billing manager

Qualifications:

• High School Graduate/GED
• Billing and Medical Terminology, strongly recommended
• Minimum of 2 (two) years of billing/collections experience
• Sound knowledge of health insurance providers.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to multitask.
• Proficient in Google Office Suite applications and ability to rapidly learn medical office software. Knowledge of Athena Health application is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
