Position Summary: The Manager of Supply Chain and Planning leads the team of Buyers and Planners and is responsible for directing all functions associated with materials planning and production scheduling, including ensuring the accuracy of purchasing and planning signals, guaranteeing engineering specifications of parts to be sourced meet Company requirements and fostering supplier relations, and working closely with Planning and Production teams as well as an Advanced planning and scheduling software system to improve lead times and meeting ship dates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set the Supply Chain strategy, investigating vendors who can supply parts that meet Company engineering specifications and requirements, determining “make versus buy” decisions.
  • Manage Planning team towards >90% on time delivery with >90% of delays communicated in advance.
  • Direct reduction of product lead times across the board and launch Quick Ship program.
  • Manage physical inventory towards goal of >3.5 turns.
  • Direct vendor relations on both the Purchasing and Quality sides to ensure proper vendors are being utilized for production components, finished goods, MRO category, and services.
  • Ensure logistics of material flow from vendors to factory for arrival just in time.
  • Aid in and track the implementation, collection, and automation of Planning-Buyer metrics and design control systems and utilize database configurations and reporting to make Supply Chain analyses more efficient, including days of supply, fill rate, cost savings, supplier lead times and logistic lead-times.
  • Collaborate with leadership across the organization to maintain production backlog within satisfactory range.
  • Study and optimize cost of goods, considering material/labor costs as well as ancillary costs such as shipping and duties and ensure annual review of supplier pricing, strategizing opportunities for cost savings.
  • Work with Engineering on New Product Development vendor selection and deployment, managing transitions in new product introductions to minimize obsolete inventory.
  • Work with Engineering and Manufacturing on improvements to existing production (Phase in and Phase Out).

Qualifications


Required Education and Experience:

  • 10 years in Supply Chain and/or Planning or related operational role
  • Management of 5 direct reports
  • 5 years ERP system experience- 2 years Syteline (Infor ERP product) preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting that uses Advanced Planning and Scheduling software (APS) is critically important
  • Experience with using Salesforce to generate material forecasts
  • A bachelor’s degree in a field related to Materials Management, Supply Chain Production, Engineering, or Production Planning or equivalent work experience
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Lighting industry experience highly preferred
