Position Summary: This position works under the delegation of a licensed practitioner to perform duties as directed to assist in providing patient care to assigned patients. A Medical Assistant performs all aspects of the Associate Medical Assistant role and is fully competent in the clinical needs/functions for assigned clinic/location of work. A Medical Assistant is expected to perform in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
· Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced medical environment
· Know all processes for each in ordered procedures/test (cardiac clearance, SIBO, Sucraid, Referrals, Hep C, IBD, capsules etc.)
· Assist physician and nurse practitioner in exam rooms with various tasks related to patient care.
· Escort patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient’s chart.
· Give instructions to patients as instructed by physician or nurse practitioner.
· Ensure all related reports, labs and information filed are available in patients’ medical records prior to their appointment.
· Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls.
· Assist with messages from patients and front office staff to physicians and nurse practitioner.
· Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e., expired medications, etc.)
· All other duties as assigned by Practice Administrator or Clinic Director.
