Lead Teacher Job Descriptions

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for developing and implementing an ongoing program of activities that

promote the social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of each child enrolled

in a group, in accordance with Texas Minimum Standards, TRS, NAC and NAEYC Performance Standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

· Have an interest in and concern for children and their families.

· Follow policies and procedures of E.A.S.Y.

· Consistently report to work on time prepared to perform duties of position.

· Support agency mission and program philosophy.

· Maintain confidentiality.

· Maintain a positive and respectful attitude.

  • Maintains up to date emergency forms, curriculum plans, individual child development profile and other records as needed.
  • Completes and reports any symptoms of child abuse to supervisor and/or child abuse hotline.
  • Completes daily health checks regarding hygiene, safety, and overall well being of the children.
  • Assures a healthy, safe, clean and developmentally appropriate environment for children.
  • Assist with functioning and monitoring of nutrition and food service.
  • Develop activities to stimulate the children
  • Clean and sterilize equipment and toys daily
  • Integrate special needs children in a respectful manner
  • Reports all staffing and classroom concerns to supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Reports family changes in schedules and excessive absences to administration in a timely manner.
  • Participate in on-going in-service and educational development opportunities provided by the Agency.
  • Participate in ongoing development and evaluation of center’s goals and objectives.
  • In accordance with our "team" philosophy, the person filling this position may occasionally be required to carry out or assist with other tasks in addition to the duties listed
  • Establish a positive relationship with each child’s family and share information about the child’s day at the Center.
  • Help parents to understand the curriculum and find ways to involve parents in the
  • daily program.
  • Conduct individual parent conferences at least twice a year to discuss each child’s growth and development.
  • Keep abreast of current knowledge in the field of Early Childhood Education.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  Associate Degree
  • Child Development Associate (CDA), awarded by the Council for Professional Recognition or at least two years experience in a child care setting
  • Certified Child Care Professional, awarded by the National Child Care Association or at least two years in a child care setting.
  • Adult and child CPR or CPR/PR, First Aid, and AED Certifications
  • Ability to relate positively to young children, parents and staff.
  • Strong working knowledge of Texas Minimum Standards, TRS, NAC, Program Performance Standards and NAEYC guidelines and regulations, including monitoring and evaluation
  • Prefer knowledge of High/Scope curriculum.
  • Demonstrate success in working as a member of a team.
  • Effective and strong communication skills (orally and written)
  • Demonstrate an ability to work successfully with community-based agencies and

building partnerships.

  • Demonstrated supervision skills

PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES:

  • Be able to lift 25-30 lbs.
  • Be able to walk, squat/kneel, sit on floor.
  • May occasionally be required to drive a motor vehicle.
  • Perform light duty cleaning
  • Light typing and work processing

Fully capable to have visual or hearing capabilities consistent with licensing

Safety requirements

OTHER:

  •  Documentation of Tuberculin-free condition
  • Pass a Criminal Background Check/FBI Finger Printing
