This position is designed to carry out a LSUHSC sponsored research project on the fabrication of antimicrobial scaffolds for bone and periodontal tissue engineering using a novel reactive electrowriting technology. The position is funded for two-years. The successful applicant will be expected to carry out the research project involving polymer materials synthesis and characterization, 3D printing and electrowriting, microbiology, cell and tissue culture; performing data analysis, and writing reports and manuscripts. In addition, some other duties involve assisting and supporting the research projects of students and residents.

40%: Carry out experiments by following established protocols/procedures and under the
supervision of the PI. The experiments include, but are not limited to, the construction
of the reactive electrowriter from acquired parts, testing and optimizing the operation
parameters, synthesizing and grafting antimicrobial polymers, fabrication of scaffolds.
Conduct in vitro cell, tissue, and biofilm culture, analyzing them using optical microscopes.

30%: Conduct in vitro cell, tissue, and biofilm culture, analyzing them using optical microscopes.

10%: Analyze data, write reports and prepare manuscript for publication.

10%: Assist and support undergraduates and postgraduate students/ residents.

5%: Present data to local and national conferences.

5%: Other duties as assigned
