This is work supervising the maintenance of the landscaped grounds and parking facilities.
OTHERREQUIREMENTS OF THEPOSITION
Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
Knowledge of landscape design, installation and maintenance techniques.
Knowledge of the procedures and methods used in proper tree maintenance.
Knowledge of the design, installation, maintenance and repair of complete landscape irrigation systems.
Knowledge of all methods, procedures, precautions, laws, and rights applicable to the safe handling, mixing, applying, storage, disposal and documentation of use of pesticides.
Skill in safely and effectively operating riding mowers in order to instruct others.
Skill in using supplemental landscape maintenance equipment such as power edger’s, blowers, power hedge trimmers, and the like in order to instruct others.
Skill in the installation, maintenance and repair of complete landscape irrigation systems.
Skill in handling, mixing, applying, storage, disposal and documentation of use of pesticides.
Ability to supervise people.
Ability to determine work priorities then plan, organize, coordinate and insure proper completion of work assignments.
Ability to requisition, distribute and monitor use of supplies and materials.
Ability to maintain accurate records.
Ability to utilize problem solving techniques.
Ability to use hand tools such as rakes, shovels, lopping shears, pole saws, and the like during landscape construction, modification, and maintenance.
Ability to use power and non-power hand tools and equipment properly.
Ability to read and clearly understand blueprints.
Ability to lift and carry loads of 50 pounds or more (bags of fertilizer, bags of grass seed, bags of asphalt patch, sod and the like); to push or pull small equipment such as walk-behind edger’s, mowers and blowers.
Ability to walk long distances on level and unleveled terrain while using equipment.
Ability to get on and off riding mowers, tractors, sweepers, riding scrubbers and other similar equipment quickly and with ease in cases of emergency.
Ability to understand and apply LSUHSC rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Ability to communicate information effectively, in English, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and within extreme temperature ranges.
Visual ability, corrected, to observe people and/or vehicles moving through the work area in order to redirect work or equipment to avoid injuries to the people or damage to the vehicles.
