As a PRN Nurse Practitioner the primary duty is the performance of work requiring advance knowledge and requires the incumbent to consistently exercise discretion and judgment in applying their advanced knowledge. Provides medical services, including assessment and physical examinations, for LRADAC patients as needed under protocol established by the Medical Director and utilizing their clinical expertise. Performs other professional medical duties as needed. Performs professional consultation for medical issues as needed on an on-call basis, as scheduled.

Position Logistics

Education, Experience & Licensure Requirements

• Master’s degree is required. Degree must be from an accredited institution recognized by the US Department of Education. 
• Three years of experience working with substance abuse populations is desired.
• SC medical licensure, as well as DEA Controlled Substances and Prescriptive Authority certificates are required. Current CPR certificate is also required.
• APRN, licensure to practice in SC, and SC Controlled Prescriptive Certificate are also required.

Position Overview

• Conduct history and physical examinations on all patients admitted to Withdrawal Management unit within the 24-hour mandated timeframe.
• Order appropriate treatment for withdrawal management using established protocols and clinical expertise.
• Manage and coordinate all medical concerns of patients. Assess continuing care needs, medication adjustments, and appropriate course of care for patients.
• As needed, conduct pre-employment physical examinations for staff and volunteers.
• Document medical services rendered, orders, and service plans for patients per agency guidelines.
• Attends all required meetings and training sessions.
• Other duties as assigned.
