At a Glance: The safety and security of the LCC Campus Community is paramount to maintaining a friendly and welcoming environment for all. Our Security Guards are an invaluable part of campus as they patrol the grounds 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Join the Security Team as a part-time Security Guard and help support campus safety!

The Security Guard will be responsible for patrolling, inspecting buildings and grounds and enforcing rules of behavior. The position will serve as a substitute (on-call) Security Guard without a specified number of hours. The hours will vary based on need and availability, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. The typical hours of campus operations are between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday. This position is categorized as a Security Guard 1, under State of Washington Class Specification. This position is a temporary part-time position not to exceed 1050 hours in a consecutive 12-month period. In person work is required.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities

  • Patrol buildings and grounds by foot and/or vehicle
  • Monitor people and vehicle entry to grounds
  • Monitor vehicles in parking areas to prevent vandalism or theft
  • Respond to reports of stolen property, accidents, parking incidents and other disturbances
  • Enforce security rules and policies, and rules of behavior
  • Complete daily shift logs and security reports
  • Receive lost property found on campus; receive complaints, obtain statements, and conduct preliminary investigations
  • Control access to buildings
  • Direct visitors and others to parking areas and offices; provide information and assistance to individuals as necessary
  • Provide safety escorts for visitors, staff, students as requested
  • Checks in on other personnel working alone on the grounds; assist staff and others with personal safety concerns
  • Promote goodwill with the community
  • Other duties as assigned

Typical Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Must have a High school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent customer service skills are required
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency using computer software applications (MS Office Suite) is required
  • A valid state issued driver's license is required
  • Proof of immunizations including COVID vaccination

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Previous experience performing First Responder duties (Fire/EMT, Law Enforcement, Paramedic, etc.)
  • Associate's degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher education
  • A commitment to providing quality service to students, faculty, staff, and other campus visitors

If you have held a part-time hourly, or temporary position, after July 1, 2022 within your institution, you will not qualify for the position and cannot be considered pursuant to WAC 357-04-045. The provisions of WAC 357-04-045 requires:
