Summary/Objective:
To identify each days’ shipment and assure it is correctly assembled, packaged, protected, and labeled, and appropriate signs are completed accurately. Responsible to meet each day’s shipping schedule and notify the Shipping Supervisor if a problem should occur. Maintain inventory control and records. Perform related work.
Essential Functions

-Knows and understands the safety procedures and practices.
-Verifies quantity and quality of order before packaging and shipping.
-Must be attentive to detail.
-Be able to record information for each customer shipped out including weight, tracking information and special notation.
-May be required to build a custom built crate, or pick one up at another location.
-Be able to secure the package contents to prevent damage and breakage.
-Clearly affix shipping labels on packaging as well as any special handling instructions in an orderly fashion.
-Be able to read and understand job traveler and verify signs per customer order.
-Be able to learn how to operate the FedEx and UPS shipping systems.
-Be able to operate the band saw, banding equipment and floor jacks.
-Knows proper lifting techniques and gets help with heavy weights and avoids awkward body positions.
-Must be able to work in the stocking program side of shipping.
-Must be able to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
-Keep all work areas clear of clutter and equipment.
-Might be asked to take part in year-end and general inventory procedures.
-Report any defective sign or shortage to Shipping Supervisor.

-Willingness to be trained on the operation of an electric pallet jack and crown lift.
-Must have the ability to interpret the work orders.
-Must be organized and able to work independently as well as within a team environment.
-Must be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
