General Manager Oversight

  • General Manager over Residential Care Home(s), managing a team of DSPs, CNAs to provide care and support to residents enabling them to live their best life.
  • Assess new resident individuals, conduct pre-admisssion screenings.
  • Prioritize health problems and intervene appropriately in order to assist individuals in crises situations.
  • Complete daily progress notes to ensure adequate supports have been clearly documented and services rendered.
  • Coordinate and execute the scheduling and transporting of individuals to medical appointments, hospital and emergency room.
  • Submit, at minimum, monthly a calendar/schedule of appointments, and in home nursing for CRA to Executive Director or COO
  • Attend ISP and SIS meetings as assigned.

Knowledge of Medical Policies & Procedures/Medical Protocol Oversight

  • Collaborate and work closely with Program Management to ensure residential are run according to policy and procedure and are in compliance at all times.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) standards as it relates to the physical health care of individuals served.
  • Develop or provide input in the development of internal procedures relevant medical procedures and/or protocol.

Medical Management (Auditing/Monitoring/Reporting)

  • Educate, train and monitor staff to ensure medical-related services /issues as identified in the Individual Service Plan (ISP), Behavior support Plan (BSP) or other related assessments with medical information contained in the individuals’ charts are accurately and timely carried out.
  • Conduct on-going assessment of health status to ensure timely and effective interventions and refers individuals to various healthcare services as appropriate.
  • Update HRST reports ninety (90) days before the individual’s birthday, as well as, upon changes in physical and mental condition or when medication changes occur.
  • Submission of HRST reports to Program Manager for delivery to the homes.
  • Receive, authenticate and document individual medication.
  • Conduct, at minimum, monthly medical audits to ensure proper medical care, treatment and support are rendered, such as but not limited to: accurate and thorough recording of individual meds on Medication Administration Record (MAR), appropriate and timely medical visits and follow-ups, ongoing monitoring of prescribed physical health conditions i.e. blood pressure, vital signs, labs, weight, bowel management, medication supply, proper storage, securing and disposal of medications, etc.
  • Monitor to ensure proper procedure is followed by appropriate staff relating to medication administration or assisting with self administration.
  • Prepare quarterly infection control reports.
  • Check records monthly to ensure receipt of lab reports and appropriate follow-up is completed.
  • Follow internal protocol for reconciling medications as it relates to initial orders, changes in orders and existing orders.
  • Submit all reports in a timely manner to Program Management and Quality Assurance

Medication Training/Quality Assurance

  • Provide and/or coordinate ongoing medical management training inclusive of SSAM and proxy training to all staff, at minimum, quarterly.
  • Review, approve and/or assist in the development of corrective action strateg(ies) relating to medical-related incident reports.
  • Serve as a member on various committees i.e. Executive Team, Quality Assurance, Human Rights and other committees as appointed by the Executive Director
  • Meet continuing education requirements as set forth by DBHDD and organizational standards

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA”s)

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs or more
  • Must be able to use personal vehicle or company vehicle to travel locally or out-of-state, if needed, schedule, travel to and from doctor appointments.
  • Must adhere to organization’s on call schedule

Experience

  • Preferred: one year experience providing medical oversight/care to individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Benefits include vacation pay, profit sharing/performance bonus.
