Lowe Electric Supply is Hiring a Distribution Equipment Quotations Specialist Near Macon, GA

SUMMARY:

Responsible for quoting material from plans and specifications on construction projects. This may also include building a Bill of Material from a plan/specification reading or working with a customer to suggest products on design-build projects.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Taking a Bill of Material for a construction project and creating a complete and professional quotation using Crescent-approved Quotations Software Job Management.
  • Store and organize Job info per company standards. 
  • Interact with electrical contractors, architects, engineers, and owners to suggest products to be used on all types of construction projects.
  • Take off Bills of Material from plan/specification readings and specifications. Bills of material would include but are not limited to Distribution Equipment such as Panelboards, Switchboards, MCCs, VFD’s CT Cabinets, Metering, Transformers, Industrial control products, Fuses, and Medium Voltage Transformers. 
  • Negotiate pricing with manufacturers and customers.
  • Act as a source of technical expertise within the branch. Also, work closely with Area Sales Managers and Account Managers within targeted accounts.
  • Collect and analyze quotations data to determine patterns of success or failure. Measure by product type, manufacturer, bid amounts, and customers.
  • Attend branch/company meetings and events as required. Overnight travel may be necessary.
  • Attend training assigned by supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Must possess strong PC skills and product knowledge. Must have the ability to work quickly and accurately under severe time constraints and pressure. In addition, must possess interpersonal and organizational skills, be a self-starter, be detail-oriented, and have the ability to communicate (verbal and written).

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); a minimum of one-year related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A two-year trade school or four-year college degree is strongly recommended.
  • Product and application knowledge as well as an understanding of the bid process. Background in wholesale electrical distribution or electrical contracting is very helpful.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • None.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Occasional standing and walking. Frequent sitting and use of hands/fingers. Lifting up to 25 pounds is occasionally needed.
  • Requirements for reading plan/specification readings: close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less) and the ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
  • May be required to work more than 40 hours per week.
