Description

Job Summary:

The Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing direct athletic training services to the student-athletes and manage all aspects of athletic health administration for Lovell Academy. This position is expected to manage potentially catastrophic, acute, and chronic athletic injuries within the scope of practice for athletic training, to include rehabilitation and return-to-play decisions. In addition, the athletic trainer is expected to collaborate with strength and conditioning coaches, school nurse, physicians and physical therapists.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of all sports medicine operations 
  • Evaluate injuries/illnesses
  • Triage
  • Education of injury prevention
  • Medical referrals to other physicians and imaging
  • Instructing self-care and home exercise programs
  • Maintain accurate records of injuries, illnesses, treatments, and referrals
  • Coordination of on-campus and off-campus resources, patient services
  • Responsible for scheduling and medical coverage
  • Oversight of day-to-day coverage and responsibilities
  • Management of staff adherence to policy and procedure
  • Responsible for athletic training coverage and coordination for all required events
  • Implementation of all procedures, protocols, and policies
  • Utilizing athletic training techniques to prevent injuries and prepare student-athletes for practices and competitions
  • Coordinating any treatments and follow up for injuries, as well as providing pre-season screenings
  • Management of budget, inventory, equipment, insurance coordination, and related expenses
  • Manage stock, maintenance, and new orders for sports medicine

Requirements

Minimum:

  • BOC Certified (or eligible) - Massachusetts Licensed Athletic Trainer (or eligible)
  • Master's degree from an accredited educational institution 
  • Experience with athletes in high contact sports

Preferred:

  • Completion of continuing education courses relevant to advanced rehabilitation and performance training methodology 
  • Prior experience with manual therapy and movement assessments 
  • Experience collaborating with strength and conditioning coaches for exercise prescription and rehabilitation needs
  • Current strength and conditioning certification from either the NSCA or NASM
